SDRC Group Parent Training

AEFCT offers Group Parent Training, which as of June 2010 is required by the San Diego Regional Center prior to beginning over 3 ABA services. Group Parent Training is a 4-week class (2 hours per week) designed to introduce parents to the principles applied in an ABA program. Topics discussed include:

  • Principles of ABA (reinforcement, antecedent, behavior, consequence)
  • Compliance Training
  • Reinforcement Contingencies (DRO, DRA, DRI)
  • Extinction & Redirection
  • Re-do and try again
  • Function of Behavior (including identifying appropriate replacement behaviors)
  • Data Tracking (ABC, Task Analysis, Potty Log, simple Behavior Intervention Plan, Behavior Contracts, etc.)
  • Consistency/Proactive Techniques
  • Use of Timers
  • Behavioral Momentum
  • Schedules & Token Economy
  • Use of Visuals
  • Giving Choices
  • Typical Development
  • PECS Training
  • Bed-time Routine & Self-Help Skills
  • Generalization (people, environments, behaviors)
